The hormone Glucagon
Glucagon is an important hormone and involved in the carbohydrate metabolism. Glucagon works in symbiosis with Insulin and the action of Glucagon is opposite of Insulin which instructs the body cells to take glucose from the blood. Glucagon maintains the level of glucose in the blood by binding to Glucagon receptors on hepatocytes, causing the liver to convert glycogen into glucose. Glucagon is very important actor in homeostasis; the stabilization of the internal milieu.
